Chinese New Year (or Spring Festival):
Public holiday. First day of the lunar calendar (usually falls in February). Lasts for three days.

Lantern Festival:
Falls on the 15th day of the 1st moon (around mid-Feb to mid-March). Must see : the famous lion dances that occur throughout this period.

Hong Kong Food Festival:
Usually held in March. Must try : local and international cuisine.

Tin Hau Festival:
A Taoist festival that falls around late April. Junks are decorated and sail in long rows to Tin Hau temples to pray for clear skies and good fishing.

Dragon Boat Festival:
Held in June dragon boat races taking place in Hong Kong and Outlying Islands.

Festival of Asian Arts:
A major international event and usually occurs in October or November. The Chinese administration has introduced two new holidays

Handover Day:
Celebrated on 1 July New holiday introduced by the Chinese administration to mark the end of the 100 years of British administration in Hong Kong.

Victory over Japan:
Falls on 4 July. Marks the end of WWII
